Nadezhda Valentinovna Mostyaeva, a talented and passionate artist, was born in the Moscow region and has dedicated her life to capturing the beauty of Arabian horses and sighthounds through her art. Her journey began in childhood, sparked by frequent visits to the “Horse Breeding” pavilion at VDNKh with her mother. There, the majestic Arabian horses captivated her imagination, inspiring her to draw these magical creatures.
Mostyaeva’s artistic path was solidified through formal education at the Udelninskaya Art School and the Moscow Veterinary Academy named after K. Skryabin, from which she graduated in 1979. Initially, she worked at an art combine, creating visual aids for agricultural educational institutions. However, her true calling emerged in the late 1980s when she became a freelance animal artist.
Specializing in Arabian horses and sighthounds, Mostyaeva’s work reflects a deep love and understanding of these animals. In 1993, she illustrated the “Russian Borzoi Stud Book 1943-1993,” showcasing her talent in graphic arts. Since 2002, she has been a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, and her works now reside in private collections across the globe.
Her artistry is unique and easily recognizable. Her paintings are characterized by their lightness, tenderness, and the remarkable ability to convey the mood and temperament of the animals she depicts. Whether painting a storyline or a portrait, Mostyaeva consistently discovers new aspects of her subjects, making her creative process endlessly fascinating.
Mostyaeva’s passion for Arabian horses extends to her love for sighthound dogs, particularly greyhounds and Russian Borzois. She recalls, “Our first sighthounds came to us in the late 1980s. A female greyhound was the beginning of our kennel’s story, followed by the Russian Borzoi. Greyhounds, to me, are akin to Arabian horses.”
